1 Week to go!

Freemens Common Site

This time next week we'll be in the middle of the intricacies of a three way merger in 18EU (or similar) and we can't wait! However, before you set out, there's a few important updates that you might need to know. Other than physical location, there are a few small changes from previous years, so even if you've been before, please read on...

If you have booked a room in advance, then you should have received your room chit by email - bring it on your phone or print it, up to you! Rooms are definitely available after the convention starts at 2PM, we can't guarantee you access you your room before then. The rooms are modern university accommodation, so feature a bed, bedding, desk, bathroom etc. You'll get a pack of toiletries and rooms are serviced after breakfast each morning. There's also a kitchen in each block, with a fridge etc. You won't get separate bottles of shampoo, conditional and body lotion, so consider bringing those, along with anything else that one might need if one were a student, like Pink Floyd albums and if it's looking like it's gonna be hot, then from experience, we recommend that you consider bringing a fan.

If you have not yet booked and are planning to turn up to pay on the door, then whilst you can still come and play games for the weekend, we regret to inform you that we CANNOT GUARANTEE that there will be ANY rooms available for sale on the door at this point in time. This is a departure from previous years. If the University inform us that this situation has changed, then we will update you. As such, we strongly recommend that you make your own arrangements for accommodation if you don't already have a room pre-booked for ManorCon XL.

Pre bookers would also have received a copy of the Progress Report at the same time as their room chit. For the old hands, this is what you used to see in the QLA that came out ahead of ManorCon each summer. For newcomers, or those who've not booked yet, this duplicates a lot of the information that you can find elsewhere on this website, but collates it all into one handy place for you. Aren't we good to you?

If you're planning on coming by car and have already booked with us, then you should also have been given instructions regarding pre-booking for parking. The cost of this is £2.50 per day (rather than the £5.00 for the weekend as we initially announced). Again, this is entirely the decision of the University. We have also been informed that there's a 2.1 metre height restriction in place on the car park, so no double decker buses. Sorry!
